September 2021 Trimester Update (09/06/21 updated)

An update from UONL Principal, David Sexton (20/04/21):

Firstly, many congratulations on securing a place at UONL, and a very warm welcome.

As you may have seen in the news, the Universities Minister has set out the latest guidance on the return of students to universities (Higher education providers: coronavirus (COVID-19) - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk) stating that all students will be able to return to in-person teaching.

Your Welcome Week Event is being held week commencing 20th September 2021, with classes beginning 27th September 2021, with all classes delivered as an innovative active learning approach of 1 day face-to-face on campus, and 1 day virtual learning via Zoom.  We have considerable experience in online delivery, and I am sure you will find the experience as rewarding and positive as all of the many thousands of students attending our online Welcome Events and classes over the last year.

During Welcome Week you can expect lots of daily exciting events such as meeting your tutors, academics, class mates and seeing the teaching facilities you will be learning in. There will be tours of the Campus happening daily to fit around your busy schedules, these are good to attend so you can see the local amenities within the East India Docks. You will also have an introduction to learning at UONL, with an overview of Moodle / VLE, Turnitin, the myUONL App, as well as your UONL student email and calendar. We also hold an Employability and Freshers Fair which is a great oppertunity to meet potential employers for any internships or to give you an idea for potential future career prospects, as well as meeting fellow students.

We fully recognise that the Covid-19 pandemic continues to have a very significant impact on your lives, and we are doing everything we can to support you through these challenging times.

Your health and wellbeing are very important to us, and we will introduce you to our Wellbeing Team at your Welcome Event.
